Oh the places to go...
The Twin Cities have so many amazing photoshoot locations that it can be hard to pick where to go. Kind of a good problem to have right?! Well, as a Minnesotan born-and-raised, I've collected some of the best photoshoot locations within an hour of the Twin Cities; lets go!
7. Saint Anthony Main
Minneapolis, MN
Saint Anthony Main is an incredible urban location for photoshoots. It boasts many different sites within walking distance that create a beautiful variety to any photo session. This area is also right next to the Stone Arch Bridge which is a gorgeous place for photos overlooking the city. As it is in the heart of Minneapolis, it can be bustling with people, but if you go during quieter times of the day, there is little competition for photo spots.

6. Prairie Bluff Conservation Area
Eden Prairie, MN
The Prairie Bluff Conservation Area is a stunning patch of nature in an accessible area to the Southwest side of the cities. It overlooks the city in the distance and gives a peaceful prairie setting for any type of photoshoot. This is another popular place for photos, so try to go during a slower day of the week.

5. Interstate Park
St. Croix Falls, WI
One of my personal favorite spots for photoshoots is Interstate Park on the Wisconsin side. This location hosts both gorgeous pine trees and magnificent rockfaces. Be careful and stay far from the edge of cliffs. I would also recommend scouting out the area before your session as it is a slightly larger park that has many different beautiful places to shoot at. There is a small fee to enter since it is a state park.
4. Tonkadale Greenhouse
Minnetonka, MN
Tonkadale Greenhouse is a perfect place to have photography sessions when it is cold out. The stunning greenery and soft light makes portraits just beautiful. I love this location because of the accessibility of it and the kind employees. If you go on a slower day of the week there is fewer people, but always be considerate of customers. You must submit a photography session request before you go, so be sure to fill out the request form on their website well ahead of time.
3. Cascade Falls
Osceola, WI
Cascade Falls is a jaw-dropping location for photoshoots. This location feels remote yet is right in downtown Osceola. The falls can be especially beautiful in the winter, but be sure to step carefully as it can be icy. There are several sets of steps, so this location is best for people who are able to walk up and down flights of stairs.
2. Downtown Stillwater
Stillwater, MN
Downtown Stillwater has been a long-time favorite of mine. It has the old-town feeling and is right along the St. Croix River. The walking bridge is an iconic landmark to Stillwater, and there are many places within walking distance that create amazing photo locations. If you are up to it, you can climb the iconic stairs to overlook the city and river, but be aware--it is more difficult than it looks. You can also drive to the top of the steps, but be respectful of the residents that live there.
1. Tamarack Nature Center
White Bear Lake, MN
This is a hidden gem and my all-time favorite location to bring clients. It has gorgeous grassy fields that are beautiful year-round, stunning birch groves, and even a small dock that creates nice variety to any gallery. If you go in the fall the maple trees add pops of color to your photos. The parking lot is large, and the park is in a convenient location to the East side of the Twin Cities. Dogs are not allowed in the park, so if you want to bring your furry friend to your photoshoot, this unfortunately isn't the location for you.
All in all...
The Twin Cities are a central location to so many beautiful locations for photoshoots, and it is truly a blessing to be able to call this place home to so many of us! Have fun exploring this amazing area!
